Tin Man Lee started his bird and wildlife photography in 2010 as a hobby when he had a 9-5 job in a biotechnology company in Los Angeles after his PhD in Biomedical Engineering. For the next ten years or so, he took photos only in the weekends or in very few week long trips while working at his full time job. But even with so little time, he won the Grand Prize of Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International, with his photo exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History as a 6-foot print, and also as a 20-foot banner at the entrance of the museum. He had also won the Wildlife Category with his photo of foxes, also displayed at the Smithsonian Museum, among his many other recognition. In 2015 he was invited to have his first solo exhibit in Hong Kong, at HKUST, displaying 48 large format prints for 5 months. His work has made various magazine covers and have been featured at Smithsonian Earth, Google Nik, Outdoor Photographer Mag, Alaska Mag, Nature's Best Photography, WPOTY, etc. In Nov 2018, he quit his job to pursue photography full time. His other passion is teaching. With an engineering training, he loves to break complicated concepts into simple, easy to understand practical steps, combining art and science. His teaching style is enthusiastic and funny at times, making learning from him very easy and effective. That's why he has over a thousand students now and his students have won numerous national and international awards and helping conservation.
